IT'S (ALWAYS) CANDLE SEASON...BEESWAX IS BEST!

catherine frank

There is nothing better to add ambiance to one’s celebrations (holiday, anniversary, wedding, birthday, etc.) than candles and beeswax are the very best! Their warm glow & clean burn provide a cozy atmosphere just when it’s most-welcomed. Did you know that beeswax has the highest melting point of any wax and therefore a much longer burn time? With their clean burn, they are environmentally friendly and can even help remove odors from the home. Aren’t bees amazing!

You’ll know if a beeswax candle is 100% beeswax when it turns cloudy - called ‘bloom’. If you aren’t a fan of this look, a gentle buffing with a soft cloth or heating with a hair dryer will turn it back to it’s glorious, golden glow! Check out the photo below showing a comparison.

As always, never leave a candle unattended & burn it in a draft-free area. Watch your pets too when burning any type of candle.

We have an excellent selection of beeswax candles in many sizes from tea lights to tapers to pillars and more!

MORE SNOW....HUNGRY BIRDS!

catherine frank

If you’re looking for a pretty easy way to get started in feeding the birds or if you’re just looking to add a little something extra to the feeders that you already have, you might want to check out our SEED CYLINDERS! (They’d make a great gift too - wink, wink) They are attractive to many species including, but not limited to, Cardinals, Chickadees, Juncos, Finches, Nuthatches and Woodpeckers. With more snow & cooler temperatures in the forecast, many of these feathered friends will be searching for easily accessible sources of food.

HELLO NOVEMBER!

catherine frank

It’s difficult to believe that November has arrived! Lovely fall weather continues while it’s difficult to understand how September & October flew by! At any rate, we’ll take more fall with some colourful leaves holding on!

BUSY FEEDERS & EVENING GROSBEAKS REPORTED!

catherine frank

With some recent warmer temperatures, one would think that feeders wouldn’t be too busy. This hasn’t been the case around our garden and the same goes for many others as well. We’ve been entertained by Blue Jays, Chickadees, White and Red-breasted Nuthatches, Goldfinches, House Finches and various Woodpeckers. A couple of folks have been delighted to report Evening Grosbeaks…how fun is that!

JUNCOS ARE HERE....TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO DROP THIS WEEK

catherine frank

While temperatures are currently quite lovely, they are expected to take a dip this week! Many birds continue to source nourishment in the wild but we’ve noticed many visits when we fill up our feeders. Today, for instance, we’ve had both White & Red-breasted Nuthatches, Cardinals. Chickadees, House Finches, and Blue Jays along with a few visits from the cute Tufted Titmouse. As well, many have had Junco sightings (our first pictured below)! Whatever birds are in your garden or around your feeders, enjoy the entertainment!
